Well Folks! The day has come. Alternate Voices launch day.
I view the day with a mixture of excitement and sadness; excitement about the release of the book, which I hope will raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support to help people in the UK living with cancer as well as their carers, partners and families and sadness because today also marks seven years since my partner, David, to whose memory the anthology is dedicated, passed into spirit.
My good friend Tricia Drammeh is running interviews with the contributors on her blog all this week, as well as a feature about her own contribution A Change of Heart. You can check out the ones so far at
Juliet's Alternate Voices interview
Tricia's Alternate Voices feature
Joel's Alternate Voices Interview
Gerry's Alternate Voices Interview
There are several ways you can get involved in the launch.
You can participate in the Facebook launch event
You can like the Facebook Alternate Voices page
You can join the Alternate Voices Supporters group on Facebook
You can also make your own donation to Macmillan Cancer Support here
Alternate Voices features seven stories. Not all feature crimes, some deal with emotive issues but all are accurate portrayals of the characters from the DI Frank Lyle Mystery series. The six contributors (other than myself) have done, me, DI Lyle and themselves proud.
They are
Tricia Drammeh
Joel Mark Harris
Gerry McCullough
Katrina Bowlin-MacKenzie
Paul Trembling
Caroline Lee
Caroline has also done us proud with her black and white illustrations for the book’s interior, which I have kept under wraps until now.
You can find out more about the authors by reading the brief bios at the end of each story.
You can get your own copy of Alternate Voices. Please do leave a review wherever you buy the book. The more reviews the book gets the more people are likely to buy it and every penny/cent means that more people in the UK can get the support they need to cope with their cancer diagnosis and treatment. There are sadly very few people whose lives have not been blighted by cancer, either directly or indirectly, and it’s more than time that this plague was obliterated from the earth.
